It’s not just because of the reason that you got some free time, or for relaxation, or just to get your mind of something. I want to know WHY you play games, what makes a game fun? What makes you play a game? What makes you play the game again, again and again? I mean, what makes you PLAY?
Seen my own experience, and I’m not a heavy gamer, but since I played Angry Birds incredibly often and intense, I got caught up in that game because of the reason that I just wanted to reach a high score, for satisfaction that is. The second reason was that it was a very addictive game, and you just couldn’t stop playing until you reached the next level. The third reason was that it was the game itself, the swiping, the sound design and the graphics, I thought it was fun. So the psychological part would be, satisfaction, addiction and looks of the game (so that’s taste). The fourth and fifth reason would definitely be because of free time and relaxation and to get your mind off something. So that IS an important thing after while playing games after all.
